Discussion
- Redefine the role of BB-Doc and BB-Testing sub-groups
- The role of bb-doc will continue to be a resource for BB community as far as accessibility goes.
- BB-Doc wiki page will have links to all accessibility resources including those created by BB.
- BB-Doc wiki page needs to b updated. Empty or abandon projects needs to be removed.
- BB-Doc should be a central resource for all BB accessibility related matters.
- BB-Testing will continue to identify accessibility issues with existing BB products, record them Behind the Blackboard, and work with BB on potential solutions.
- Possible collaboration between BB-Doc and BB-Testing on selected projects
- We discussed about possible collaboration between BB-Doc and BB-Testing on collaborating with each other on projects like WYNN literacy software with Blackboard-Initial Testing.
- It was suggested that members of bb-doc and bb-testing group together improve such documentation. Participants generally agreed.
- Bringing more active members on board of BB-Doc and BB-Testing
- We discussed how to get folks committed to the various committees and what those committees should be responsible for.
- We talked about getting a type of "commitment contract" from those who sign up for these committees, with hopes that they will take their participation more seriously.
- Hadi and sub-group leaders should send e-mails to the general list and invite/encourage members to join at least one of the sub-groups.
- Integrating Best Practices for creating universlaly accessible courses in the mainstream Best Practices
- We had a discussion on establishing a committee lead by BB focusing on creating best practices.
- BB does not see its role to be involved in the pedagogical application of BB, however, they would be interested in the process.
- Documenting accessibility features in BB version 9
- BB has begun working on the screen reader tutorial for version 9. they are expecting to have the first version mid March.
- They find the idea of having a document where all the accessibility features of version 9 is listed for various disability groups but they don't have any immediate plan to do it.
- We also discuss posting accessibility related materials produced by BB in a generally more accessible area, e.g. under not Behind the Blackboard where user would need an account to access the materials. BB is going to work on it.
