Agenda
Hello Everyone, As we discussed in our last teleconference, we will be meeting next Monday May 22nd at 1:30 PM again to continue our discussion about our findings with the WebCT upcoming release. I sincerely appreciate your participation. If you find a minute, please look into the report Kostas and I created on Assessments and Discussions Modules. We would like to know if our web-based accessibility testing form covers all relevant accessibility questions. To view the report go the following URL and look for Assessments and Discussions: http://cita.uiuc.edu/collaborate/webct/evaluations.php Kim, Phil, and David, thank you very much for your reports. I have posted your original reports under the appropriate section in the evaluation page.I only added some HTML code around your reports to look nicer in the web environment. You are very welcome to modify it as you wish. Once you are done, I can post it on the Evaluations page again. Info about the next teleconference: Date: Monday May 22 2006 Time: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM CDT (Chicago Local Time) Phone: 217 265-6999 Thanks, Hadi

Notes from conference call 5/22/2006 Participants: Kimberly J Wilcox, University of Minnesota Philip Kragnes, University of Minnesota David Schwarte, Purdue University Jon Gunderson, UIUC Hadi Bargi Rangin, UIUC Robert Dumas, WebCT Regrets: Konstantinos Yfantis Lisa Fiedor Notes: * Discussed categorization of reports submitted by Philip and Kim. Philips will be filed under Calendar and Kim’s filed under My WebCT. * Jon and Hadi will be restructuring web site, should be complete in a few weeks. * Discussed the use of header elements instead of title attributes for list markup in menus. Title attributes are not read by screen readers unless user knows to look for them. * Long discussion around online form used to submit issues during accessibility testing. Is the form listing enough information? Decided it would be beneficial to list proposed fixes for issues submitted. Also pointed out by Jon that the form should not replace “human” aspect of testing. Form is a way of making sure that the basics are covered before moving on to the usability aspects of testing. Philip also pointed out that usability approach was important. * Concluded that we should continue testing even though current test build is out-of-date. Still several tools that have not been tested. * Should we test content created by built-in HTML authoring tool? Probably not accessible code being generated. * Moved on to discussion of the issues list on web site. Discussed whether it can be divided by version. Also that perhaps we should add columns to list when the issue was resolved or if it remains an issue. Phil also suggested that we make a list of issues by module or tool. * Finally, Hadi and Robert are thinking of possibilities for having a meeting with either department managers at conference or even having a development-wide presentation on accessibility. ........................................................................................................ //:Robert Dumas / Development Manager - Interface Design / WebCT US
