WebMail Teleconference 10/26/2006 Regarding the in-person work session in Champaign: Finalized for November 15, 9:00 to 4:00 at UIUC in Champaign (lunch at Papa Del's) Expecting: Jon, Hadi, Mike, Julio Regrets from: Srinivas, Don (will plan to attend remotely) May use online collaboration/training tool; Jon will send details/instructions. Need to plan agenda: Intensive day to work through the widgits, understand what they need to do, how they work, how they work with assistive technologies, how they work together... Widgits, to include: * Treeview (Don is working on an example) * Gridview * Rich text editor * Task navigation controls (i.e., how you switch between widgits) * Others to be determined... Continued discussion (summarized)... Web 2.0 Accessibility Features What accessibility features should application have to be considered accessible? * Keyboard shortcuts (both sequential access and shortcuts, possibly user-configurable) * User-adjustable font size * Global settings/themes (font size, colors, etc) Issue: how do we draw the line between possible (e.g., ability to tab to every element on the page) and practical (e.g., and do it quickly)? * For "frequently used options", must have single key access? * Identify key email features that should have shortcut keys? Issue: how many users require each accessibility feature? Any statistics? * Self-identification? (May have privacy issues...) Web 2.0 Example see http://cita.uiuc.edu/software/mozilla/test/dhtml/grid/grid-1.html Questions: * As user moves between rows, what should be read? Whole row? "Header" cell? Whole row in user-configurable order? * Important to recognize how screen readers interact with tables, forms, etc... Will continue to address on the 15th... Action Items: * Don will share his example * Draft agenda for November 15 * Srinivas will take notes * Next meeting: 11/02/2006 1:00 PM CST
