Designing Universally Accessible Web Resources with HTML and CSS:
This workshop is for web developers who are familar with HTML markup and would like to learn more about the capabilities of HTML markup and Cascading Style Sheets to create web resources that are easier to maintain, highly accessible to people with disabilities and compatible with emerging web browsing technologies being integrated into cell phones and PDAs. The workshop will provide a hands on experience for web developers to create and test CSS example web resources using HTML strucutre and style sheets. Participants will receive a CD-ROM that includes the workshop presentation materials, design examples and demonstration software for supporting the creation of accessible web resources. Participants are encouraged to bring their own design questions and problems for discussion in the workshop.

Jon Gunderson is currently the Coordinator of information technology accessibility for people with disabilities at UIUC in the Division of Rehabilitation Education Services. He has been working in the area of web accessibility for over 6 years and is chair of the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative User Agent Accessibility Guidelines working group. He has given numerous presentations and has taught several courses on designing universally accessible web resources.
